Trachelipus rathkii "Rathki's woodlouse"
Trachelipus rathkii is commonly mistaken for Porcellio scaber due to their similar morphological structure. There are key differences, however.
P. scaber has only 2 sets of lungs, while T. rathkii has 5!
Rathkii are also known as the common misspelling rathkei in some circles. They are named after the researcher that discovered them, hence the common name.
Rathkii prefer rotten wood as a food source and will burrow deep into logs.
We recommend only misting the far edge of the setup and allowing plenty of airflow for these animals.
