Peperomia prostrata, also known as String of Turtles is a part of the Piperaceae or pepper family. The String of Turtles is a succulent native to the wet and tropical areas of Ecuador. This cultivar is known for its green leaves that are marbled with a darker green, its long, round turtle like leaf shape. They thrive in bright, indirect light and can tolerate low light conditions, but the leaf color will not be as vibrant in low light. They prefer evenly moist soil, but can suffer from overwatering. This plant does prefer average to higher humidity levels. They, also, do well to be pot-bound. Perfect plants for terrariums, outdoor containers or hanging baskets.
