Product Details
Native to Borneo, Rhaphidophora pachyphylla is a small, bullate shingling species that clings tightly to the trunks of trees in nature, using its specialized aerial roots to attach tightly to tree trunks like a suction cup, using this extra leverage to reach the higher sunlight found higher above the understory. This method of shingling growth is clearly very effective amongst aroids; as it’s seen across about a dozen highly successful species. For cultivated growth; small plants should be grown in terrarium, as they are fragile, but once they are producing larger leaves on a support, they can be slowly acclimated into lower humidity to be grown as a very attractive, albeit flat, houseplant.
