Product Details
Native to dry regions of central and south America, Pilea mollis is a heavily bullate, low growing ‘shrub’ with large, distinct zones of color atop the beautifully pebbled leaves. Tiny yellow flowers can sprout from the tops of the rosettes, though it’s certainly no spectacle, rather more like tiny grains of popcorn, it is a great sign of a healthy Pilea. Spade shaped leaves efficiently crowd out the ground around them as an evolved mechanism to remove possible competitors from its region of understory forest. This genus is very susceptible to root trauma; rot, gnats, and other issues, but if the roots of a specimen are compromised, the top can be cut and rooted in water.
