Philodendron hederaceum 'Brasil'
One of the most popular vining Philodendrons is the heart-leaf Philodendron; which has spurred a great many mutations which still reign as quite popular amongst houseplant enthusiasts. ‘Brasil’ boasts incredible streaks of buttery yellow variegation that occupy the mid-vein of the leaf, a pattern that gave the variety it’s name due to its resemblance to the Brazilian flag. In terms of care, these vining-type Philodendron are best grown as either hanging plants, or as supported plants. If a collector wishes to grow large, mature foliage, which-for P. hederaceum, is about 8” long-the plant must be grown up a support, like a moss pole. For soil, nothing is required beyond regular, store-mixed houseplant blends. Vines can grow bare at the bases once they get too long; and propagation is a very easy process with heart-leaved Philodendron, so it is encouraged to propagate, root, and re-pot these cuttings together in order to create a fuller pot.
