Product Details
Filling the all too important role of a forest’s carpet, Pellionia pulchra gets its species name from the excess Anthocyanin pigment that contributes to its deep purple color, which only accents the gentle, intricate lace patterns along the leaf surfaces. When in the wild, Pellionia will form a dense, thick mat that serves to strangle out other competitors for its niche, however in cultivation, it’s not as rampant whatsoever. The small vines can, with some difficulty, be slowly acclimated to room levels of humidity, where they can be grown as a lovely, gentle crawler; or, in the high-humidity terrarium, they form a contained, smaller form of the dense mats they grow into in the wild.
