Monstera adasonii "Swiss cheese vine"
As one of the most ubiquitous Monstera species, adansonii provides the perfect balance of tropical elegance and easy care; with maintenance no harder than an Epipremnum, but with ridged, matte-green leaves and deep cut fenestrations; it’s the foundation of any household jungle. Soil should be mixed a bit thicker than for other Monstera, as adansonii makes thick, piercing roots that seek water deeper than most other species; and some form of support should be provided to produce and maintain leaves that show both good size and ample fenestration. Propagation is incredibly easy; cuttings left in water will root in no time whatsoever, a matter of one to two weeks. Cuttings can be potted directly into soil, where they will flourish into large, vigorous plants. Adansonii is a species more adequately suited to a low to mid light environment; as in nature it clambers through understory tree trunks and leaf litter. High light will easily burn the thin leaves, but it is otherwise quite robust.
