Marcgravia umbrellata is native to the Lesser Antilles Islands in the eastern Caribbean. This variety is traded under both the "red" and "pink" names, fresh leaves are a bright reddish pink that fade to green as they grow. This plant makes for lovely ground cover, or can be encouraged to vine upward in its environment. It grows well in high humidty and low light, but the leaves may be a brighter red if offered more light.
