Product Details

Though Senicio jacobsenii (‘trailing jade’) and Crassula ovata (‘jade’) aren’t actually related whatsoever; they provide an interesting example of convergent evolution, where a common ground is reached by totally unrelated species to overcome or solve a specific hurdle. In the case of these two; that would be the dilemma of water retention in a hostile desert environment; something that has resulted in the proliferation of thousands and thousands of wonderful succulent species, all of which beautiful in their own different ways. ‘Trailing Jade’ is a delightful houseplant with very little necessary maintenance, besides the requirement for high light, the thick leaves, stems, and fibrous roots seem to care for themselves. Propagation with these is not as simple as true jade; as stem tissue must be cut along with just a leaf in order for baby plants to rise.
