Product Details
This species is the epitome of a showy Hoya, from long, thick, ‘green-bean’ leaves to the minimal, usually hidden stems, to the dainty, fluffy, minute blossoms, Hoya shepherdii is nothing short of a spectacular display plant. When grown properly, long, sprawling vines with opposite leaves at semi-regular intervals will spill over the side of a hanging basket; studded with little floral accents that bring the whole specimen together like a corsage. Though shepherdii is most closely related to Hoya serpens; the two are quite different in care. Shepherdii is hardy, with stocky roots and plump leaves meant to subsist during periods of drought; and it propagates with little to no effort whatsoever. To keep this lovely oddball happy; a mix of equal parts houseplant soil and coco fiber, supplemented with pumice chunks, will support all of its needs adequately. Hoya shepherdii is more than capable of experiencing high light, and it does not burn to a great degree, however the species grows with a much greater level of fervency in mid to low light conditions; as this is what it favors.
