Product Details
With little record surviving of the exact origins of ‘Krinkle-8’, it exists as one amongst the beautiful sea of Hoya carnosa’s mutations. Though this form is just one of many unique appearances that carnosa can take on; this variety is quite special in its own right-it’s a ‘middle ground’ between the average Hoya carnosa, and the heavily crumpled ‘Compacta’, something that really brings together the beauty of Hoyas. With most plants, genuses like Anthurium, there is little control in the exact appearance of a plant beyond generations of selective breeding and propagation; but with Hoya, even just one species; carnosa, there is a whole spectrum of forms, enough to guarantee a carnosa fit for anyone. ‘Krinkle-8’ has a very special charm; leaves gently dimpled in even pairs of divots along the mid-vein of the leaf that give the appearance of sand dunes, or craters on the moon; shallow valleys and rifts that make each leaf its own perfect tapestry, dappled in the variable levels of silver ‘splash’ that most Hoya carnosa varieties are capable of. With a moderately slowed growth rate, ‘Krinkle-8’ provides an option for a grower with limited space; the beauty and elegance of carnosa’s thick, shiny leaves, without the need to house a sprawling monster that’s better fit for a large collection. ‘Krinkle-8’ needs nothing different from any other carnosa clone; regular, store bought houseplant mix, amended with perlite, and supplemented with fertilizer regularly. One of the most pleasing aspects of ‘Krinkle-8’ is how adaptable it is to lighting; it doesn’t show much of any sun-stress, and the doubly-thick leaves are practically impervious to burning or scorching; so ‘Krinkle-8’ can be grown in essentially any household environment, so long as there is at least partial light.
