Product Details
Though it appeared relatively recently on the houseplant scene, Hoya burtoniae has taken the community by storm. What other smaller Hoya lacked with their finicky temperaments, pitifully slow growth speeds, and generally underwhelming flowers, Hoya burtoniae gave in heaps. Leaves are perfectly fuzzy and held closely to the stem; small, olive green ovals that gain a darker brown-red outline when exposed to higher light, and delightfully scented flowers in a fun, unique shade of pastel orange. Furthermore, this species is very prone to branching, which takes away a step of maintenance usually required when growing a plant from one cutting to a full hanging basket; the step of additional propagation. Vines quickly overtake their planter, creating waves of rippling, satin pebbles, occasionally broken by a vibrant orange blossom. Care is quite minimal; the usual gritty, high-nutrient soil standard for most Hoya, supplemental fertilization, and a preference for mid light to partial shade. Due to its rampant popularity in the houseplant trade, Hoya burtoniae is an item that’s usually sold out in short supply, so if the chance is present, it should be taken!
