Product Details
From the incredibly biodiverse jungles of the Philippines comes this wonderful species. Emblematic of the true epiphytic Hoya; this species provides all the hallmarks of a major section of the genus Hoya. With the image of a true epiphyte comes such traits as thick leaves, shallow, grasping roots, and a vining nature to access more of the canopy than others that occupy the same niche; all of which are seen on Hoya bordenii. Leaves form in pairs, expanding quickly to waxy wonders upwards of 8 inches long. Flowers are absolutely exceptional; huge, purple star-blossoms that form in bundles of 20 to 30; and ooze a thick, scented nectar that proves irresistible to pollinators. Hoya bordenii should be grown like any other epiphyte; a soil mix composed of bark chips, an aerator like perlite, and the grower’s choice of fertilizer. Also, due to the fact it is a hanging plant in nature, it makes for an excellent large hanging basket that fills out in a flurry of parallel, shiny spades.
