Hoya 'Rosita'
Created from the well-planned hybridization of Hoya tsangii and wayetii; two species that alone are complimentary, but together produce a truly unique variety. ‘Rosita’ leaves curl into a delightful, miniature ‘taco’; upturned edges lined in lipstick red tint form tightly against a long, thin stem; allowing for a specimen to reach an impressive looking size in very little time; a small cutting can be grown to a full hanging basket in a matter of months, so long as conditions are right. A bit of extra humidity is a preference of ‘Rosita’, as well as a higher-moisture soil to hydrate roots properly; though this plant is surprisingly resilient for its small stature. With the quickness of growth that ‘Rosita’ provides, a hanging basket setup is far superior to a trellis; as long, colorful vines can reach upwards of 5 feet, a veritable curtain of perfect little red shells. Also, ‘Rosita’ is just as prone to showy flowering as most Hoya; and the blooms she produces are truly unique! Matte, satin red petals interlock to create what looks like a gorgeous maroon constellation dotted with tiny yellow ‘stars’.
