Dragon Tail (Rhaphidophora decursiva)
One of the best traits for an aroid to have, especially for its capabilities as a houseplant; is the unique charm of fenestrations. Rhaphidophora, the Asian equivalent of Monstera, cannot be beat in this regard. This species; Rhaphidophora decursiva, is one of the largest, with incredibly thick leaves in a dark, jade green, and some of the most prominent venation in all of the family Araceae. Unlike some other plants; Rhaphidophora decursiva is nigh impossible to kill; with thick stems, roots, petioles, and leaves that can store water and resist rot to a degree much greater than other species. Propagation is quite simple, and cuttings root with total ease in distilled water. For the best results in cultivating a mature, fully-fenestrated Rhaphidophora decursiva, some form of support should be used; whether it be a wooden plank or a moss pole.
