Product Details
Alongside Begonia bipinnatifidum, a few other species from Papua New Guinea stand out with similar characteristics. Though Begonia serratipetala isn’t as delineated from most Begonia as the blood-red spiderweb of its sister species; it still proudly displays ample crops of magenta tinged leaves, which are only accented by its arrays of violet spots; a shade that’s exceptionally rare to see in nature. A larger cane-type species, serratipetala should be cultivated in an environment capable of housing a stem of 15 inches or greater; whether that be a large terrarium, or a particularly humid greenhouse or windowsill, there is a greater level of habitat diversity that can be achieved with serratipetala than bipinnatifidum. For any collectors looking for an underappreciated gem, Begonia serratipetala is a veritable diamond in the rough for anyone ready to give it a shot.
