Begonia polilloensis
A Philippine species that looks more like a fern than a begonia, softly clubbed pinnations terminate in an intricate web-structure of dark, barely-purple leaves. This species is a cane-type, though it isn’t much like the large hybrids that hallmark this style of Begonia; with small, frail stems that usually only hold 5-6 leaves before terminating in small, white flowers. Due to the incredibly fragile nature of the intricately webbed leaves, this species is susceptible to lower humidity; and it shouldn’t be grown outside of terrarium conditions due to this. So long as humidity is kept high; this species provides little other trouble, as a slow-ish grower with a lot of very unique character.
