Though this species proves to be somewhat accessible in the houseplant trade; Begonia abdullahpieei is actually classed as Critically Endangered in its habitat of peninsular Malaysia. A rampant grower in high humidity, velvety, bumpy leaves in a bright lime green quickly explode from a short, sprawling stem that’s held tightly to the media, which should always be kept moist. The deeply veined leaves are easy to use for multiplication; each one can be used to produce a number of new baby plants when placed in water or in terrarium conditions, where this species grows best. Like most humidity-loving begonias; this species has a preference for a well-balanced combination of moderate humidity and moderate air flow, meant to keep the plant from maintaining any sitting water on the leaves.
