Armadillidium germanicum is commonly known as "The German Isopod" or "Darth Vader Isopod" but was originally distributed as Armadillidium sp. "Adige Valley" from a paricular collection site before it was properly identified. It is reportedly native to Germany and Northern Italy; some sources even citing that it can be found across most of Europe.
This isopod has a dark black base with vivid yellow spotting down the center of the dorsum. Breeding slower than the majority of Armadillidium, they reproduce at a hefty pace once established. We recommend keeping an enclosure half moist, half dry with plenty of calcium available for consumption. A. germanicum get quite large in comparison to other Armadillidium, and can be very rewarding to keep.
